Helping Individuals and Families Manage Life’s Challenges

Families Manage Life's ChallengesGREATER TRENTON BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE (GTBHC) is a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization licensed by the State of New Jersey to provide mental health and substance abuse services. As a multi-service behavioral health organization, we have served the residents of Mercer County since 1981. Throughout our history, we have been an innovator, developing new approaches and solutions to a wide range of community problems.

GTBHC DEVELOPS services that fit the unique and changing needs of our clients and community, approaching each new client situation with creativity, commitment and compassion.

GTBHC SPECIALIZES in helping vulnerable, at-risk populations increase their ability to function independently in the community, and to assume their rightful place as productive citizens. By intervening at the first sign of a problem, we reduce the need to more costly forms of care, saving the taxpayer millions annually.

GTBHC OFFERS a continuum of care for both at-risk children and families and for adults.  We provide services with varying degrees of intensity based on client need.  This allows us to intervene at the first signs of distress and with the proper intensity to prevent the worsening of problems and help speed our clients’ recovery.

GTBHC PROVIDES crisis prevention and outreach services, intensive rehabilitation for mental health and substance abuse problems, and outpatient treatment – including individual, group and family therapy, psychiatric evaluation, and medication monitoring.  We provide outreach to employers, churches and community organizations, offering services to those experiencing reactions to threats of terrorism and other forms of violence.
