POSITION: HOUSING COUNSELOR


Housing First is a program that provides housing to chronically homeless individuals and families. There is no requirement for tenants to participate in services, however support is offered in many areas including landlord/neighbor relationships, employment, linkage to services, illness management and recovery services, etc. Rental subsidies are provided. Support is provided 7 days per week, with 24 hour on-call availability. Program emphasizes teamwork, strengths-based approach, recovery culture and trauma-informed services.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist clients in obtaining apartments and completing rental applications.
• Provide support to clients in homes.
• Manage small caseload of 10 clients.
• Assist clients in developing skills.
• Provide supportive counseling and problem-solving.
• Link clients to necessary services.
• Assist clients in identifying and reaching vocational goals.
• Complete clinical documentation.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Requirements include BA , OR License as RN, OR combination of 1 or more years of college, plus 1 year of related work or life experience, OR License as a practical nurse plus 2 years of related work or life experience, OR HS diploma or the equivalent, plus 4 years of related work or life experience.
• Use of personal vehicle may be necessary in carrying out job responsibilities
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Hours include evenings, weekends and 24 hour on call (in person response as needed).
