HOUSING FIRST
POSITION: HOUSING COUNSELOR
Housing First is a program that provides housing to
chronically homeless individuals and families. There is no
requirement for tenants to participate in services, however support
is offered in many areas including landlord/neighbor relationships,
employment, linkage to services, illness management and recovery
services, etc. Rental subsidies are provided. Support is provided 7
days per week, with 24 hour on-call availability. Program emphasizes
teamwork, strengths-based approach, recovery culture and
trauma-informed services.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist clients in obtaining apartments and completing rental
applications.
Provide support to clients in homes.
Manage small caseload of 10 clients.
Assist clients in developing skills.
Provide supportive counseling and problem-solving.
Link clients to necessary services.
Assist clients in identifying and reaching vocational goals.
Complete clinical documentation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements include BA , OR License as RN, OR combination of 1 or
more years of college, plus 1 year of related work or life
experience, OR License as a practical nurse plus 2 years of related
work or life experience, OR HS diploma or the equivalent, plus 4
years of related work or life experience.
Use of personal vehicle may be necessary in carrying out job
responsibilities
Valid drivers license required.
Hours include evenings, weekends and 24 hour on call (in
person response as needed).
